Toyota Safety Technology
When you think about technology, you probably imagine the smartphone you're looking at right now or the computer you use every day at work. But, more and more, cars are becoming technological wonders and a major part of that technology is keeping the driver and everyone else around them safe. Here's a look at some of Toyota's innovative safety technology.
• Safety Sense. This suite of active safety features lends a hand when the driver needs it the most. It includes features such a Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, Auto High Beams, Pedestrian Detection, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. These systems work together to prevent an accident from happening.
• Star Safety System. Toyota's Star Safety System combines six features to keep every passenger safe: anti-lock brakes, traction control, brake assist, vehicle stability control, electric brake force distribution, and smart stop technology.
• Research. Nearly every hour of every day, Toyota spends $1 million on safety technology research and development. That equals out to more than $8 billion every year.
• THUMS. Toyota's Total Human Model for Safety is a better way to predict how human bodies will react to safety technology. It is a virtual human that includes organs, bones, tendons, and muscles that react to collisions the same way a real human would. This helps Toyota maximize its safety features for optimal real-life protection.
